Silence is Loud. Let's Start the Conversation.
Advocacy apparel raising awareness around gambling harm, recovery, and prevention. Designed to spark real conversations.
The Origin Story of GambleFreeGear
GambleFreeGear was born from both personal experience and professional purpose.
As someone who has witnessed the effects of addiction firsthand as an affected loved one and a behavioral health professional. I've seen the weight that silence, shame, and stigma can carry, especially when it comes to addiction, including gambling.
Throughout my public health journey, I've contributed to several key initiatives: the 2010 Offender Programs and medical stabilization programs, and the Heroin Crisis Act (PA 99-0480) in 2018. In 2023, I was honored to help develop a gambling prevention program at Healthcare Alternative Systems.
With a background in sales and marketing, I began applying those skills to enhance the consumer journey in behavioral health. One truth became painfully clear: silence is one of the biggest barriers to recovery.
As part of our prevention work, I've conducted community screenings and spoken with over 1,000 individuals in various settings. From those conversations emerged not only stories of struggle but also powerful messages of hope, humor, healing, and resilience.
I noticed a major gap in the prevention and awareness space: while there is strong messaging in media, there is little visibility for gambling recovery in consumer culture. Unlike mental health movements with visible fashion brands like To Write Love on Her Arms, The Trevor Project, and RAINN, there was no standout clothing line representing those impacted by gambling addiction.
At the same time, I saw how people proudly wear clothing to express identity, honor recovery milestones, and spark conversations. That's when GambleFreeGear was born: a line of apparel created to break the silence, celebrate recovery, and amplify the voices of those impacted by gambling harms.
GambleFreeGear isn't just fashion. It's freedom.
It's about wearing your truth, honoring your journey, and showing love for someone fighting to reclaim their life. Whether you're in recovery, supporting a loved one, or standing in solidarity this gear speaks for you.
We believe recovery takes many forms, and every face of recovery deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
Why It Started
As a prevention professional working directly in outreach, I saw the gap.
People needed a way to talk about gambling harm without fear, without judgment.
So this brand was created to do just that!
This is more than clothing, it's a way to bring awareness into everyday spaces.
